Some of the biggest tech companies pledged to stand up to governments that launch cyber attacks.

President Akufo Addo, has said that government is working on strengthening cyber security in the country.

He made this statement during the state of Nation’s address today.

According to him, this initiative is to enable government build confidence and protect the use of electronic communications in the nation’s development.

He mentioned that it will also ensure that the youth who are technologically savvy would keep Ghana firm in the IT sector.

“Govt is working to strengthen cyber security to build confidence and protect the use of electronic communications in national development and ensure that our young technologically savvy people would keep Ghana firmly in the exciting IT economy and its many opportunities,” he said.

Still on IT the President lamented on the shift to papersless transactions at the port and government agencies, the introduction of digital address systems and the unified Ghana identification cards as drivers in Ghana’s booming ICT center.

However, the country has seen a surge in many e-commerce platforms as well as mobile money transactions which makes the issue of cyber security more crucial than ever as the activities of hackers continue to pose a serious threat globally.
