Management consulting and professional services firm Accenture, in partnership with YouNoodle has launched the Accenture Africa’s Top 30 Tech Start-ups Competition 2018.

YouNoodle is the technology engine behind hundreds of competitive start-up programmes globally.

The initiative by Accenture aims to identify the top tech start-ups on the continent, who are solving business, government and civil society problems facing the continent with technology.

“It’s a search for Africa’s big thinkers and big doers — visionaries who fearlessly push the boundaries of progress to shift African innovation to the next level,” the firm added, urging tech entrepreneurs who are using innovation to change lives in their communities to apply.

According to Accenture, they are looking for ‘fire-starters’ that are closing significant market gaps, whose core businesses demonstrate innovation and exponential growth as well as firms whose products or services are unconstrained by geography.

“Furthermore, their tech product must be market validated, previously piloted and at least have customers,” it added.

The 30 selected applicants will join the global Accenture Open Innovation network, which will allow the start-ups to be considered for other opportunities across the globe through Accenture.

Firestarters will also participate in an Accenture led corporate market access week in Johannesburg, where they will be exposed to pitching techniques, client co-creation sessions and speed dates.

Additionally, Firestarters will have the opportunity to network with corporates and key stakeholders in the entrepreneurial ecosystem at the exclusive awards dinner in Johannesburg February 2019.

Applications are open till October 7, 2018 according to the firm.
