The follow-up to James Cameron’s Avatar, the sequel tracks Jake Sully as his family faces the threat of humans from Earth who have returned to Pandora in hopes of colonizing the planet. Avatar: The Way of Water has received praise for its visual effects, which are vastly improved over its 2009 predecessor. However, it was unclear whether the newest film would be able to break box office records the same way Avatar had when it became the highest-grossing movie of all time.
