ETG Integrated Services Limited (aka Dolphin Telecom) has donated assorted medical equipment and furniture to the maternity ward of the Ga North Municipal Hospital, Ofankor in Greater Accra Region.

Dolphin Telecom, a global communications carrier and operator of the Africa Coast to Europe (ACE) submarine cable system in West Africa, embarked on the mission to provide essential medical items and supplies that will allow the recently opened hospital to function efficiently in the discharge of its duties.

The items comprised patient trolleys, medicine trolley, nurse’s desks, a suction machine, chairs, refrigerators, etc.

Receiving the items, Dr Victor Caesar (Acting Medical Superintendent of Ga North Municipal Hospital), said the gesture could not have come at a better time as the hospital faced a number of challenges that made its operations difficult.

“I must say that the staff and the management of the facility and indeed the community as a whole, are much grateful to Dolphin for donating to the maternity unit. We started the 24-hour maternity service last week Monday.” Dr Caesar stated.

Commenting on the donation, Christiana Annan (Admin Officer of Dolphin), stated that the gesture was part of the company’s philosophy of being an agent of change in the country and community that it operates within.

“Typically, our areas of focus when it comes to CSR include health, education, water, livelihood improvement, income generation and capacity building.

So, these are the five main areas that every year when we declare profits there is a part that we set aside to help the society that we find ourselves in.

“This is what led to this gesture, and in addition to that Dolphin staff are encouraged to contribute towards its CSR project as part of the company’s culture.

“We believe that our support to the Ofankor Maternity Hospital will go a long way to support the community and its environs.” Mrs. Annan added.
