Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, Vodacom Business Ghana and the Regional Institute for Population Studies (RIPS) have partnered to launch the Ghana Flood Monitoring App.

The new mobile app which aims at monitoring weather conditions and warns of potential environmental dangers is set to be launched on Friday, June 1 in Accra.

The launch which will take place at the Ernest Bruce Memorial Methodist Church, Adabraka at 10am is open to the public.

According to Dr. Zenator, the app offers regular weather forecasts, warns users of potential flood prone areas during rainfall, and offers recommendation on safe havens during floods.

It also allows users to monitor reported incidents of distress during floods and other related incidents.

The app also has the potential for broader citizen engagement in issues within the community.

This includes service provision and road traffic accident reporting.

However, Vodacom Business Ghana the main financier of the project has adopted initiative as their major Corporate Social Responsibility agenda.
