The Ministry of Communications has directed telecommunication operators in Ghana to stop the expiry of both voice and data bundles purchased by customers.

According to the Ministry all unused data and voice bundles purchased by subscribers must be rolled over with the next recharge.

This is to ensure that customers get value for money with the data and voice bundle expiry policy ruled out.

Although some network operators like AirtelTigo have introduced the no expiry of data and voice bundles, other operators are still offering such services.

However, government and customers are hoping that Telcos like MTN and Vodafone will stop the expiry of voice and data bundles to address the needs of customers and offer customers value for money.

The Ministry of Communications also instructed the telcos to stop the instant deduction of the Communications Service Tax (CST) from the airtime of customers following customer complaints.

According to the Ministry of Communications, the CST should be treated like VAT, NHIL, GETFUND and other levies or taxes imposed on entities doing business in Ghana.
