The National Health Insurance Authority has announced that its Western Regional branch would commence electronic renewal and registration, starting December 19, 2018.

This will be done via the internet to cut down the regular queuing and waiting periods that had characterized their operations over the years.

It would also afford users of the scheme some convenience in terms of travelling cost among others.

Speaking to the issue, Mr Oswald Essuah-Mensah, the Deputy Director of Corporate Affairs Directorate, NHIA,  said the NHIA was working to achieve universal health care (UHC) and to improved access to affordable quality healthcare delivery for all.

He emphasized that the national health insurance is to give better health experience to their members.

The code for the registration and renewal: *929# would be available by December 19, 2018 for customers to access and renew their membership card across all networks in the Ghana.

The NHIA, from time to time will also prompt scheme users electronically as their policy nears expiration for quick renewal.

The Service would charge a one cedi convenience fee from the accounts of customers in addition to the total amount for renewal of membership card.
