In four days, the international conference/festival known as re:publica hits the African continent for the first time.

December 14th to 15th will see the Round Pavilion at the Trade Fair Centre host a whole host of speakers and activities.

Featured speakers include Farida Nabourema (“Togo: Unlocking the gate to political succession”), Nanjala Nyabola (“Including Africa’s Media Image in the 21st Century”), Rebecca Enonchong(AppsTech – Founder & CEO), Kudzanai Chiurai (“The revolution will not be televised”, Brixton Art Gallery), Tefo Mohapi (iAfrikan Digital – Founder & CEO), Bernardino Avle (“Point Of View Show” host – Citi TV) and many more.

There will also be various lounges where participants can experience and gain new insights on various topics during the event. 

The “Digital Rights Lounge” will allow visitors to learn about digital security, open knowledge, digital rights and women in tech issues.

The “Creators Lounge” is a space for all creatives to experiment with digital recording, new instruments and journalism.

“Makerspace” will allow participants to take part in hands-on maker workshops and create their own hardware.

The “Health Lounge” invites all to do yoga, eat healthy snacks and learn about health apps.
