Ghanaian-American fibre optic inventor, Dr Thomas Mensah has launched the Silicon Valley of Ghana at the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (AITI-KACE) in Accra.

This was part of their effort to bridge the technology gap in the country.

The Silicon Valley of Ghana will be producing speed bullet trains that will run from Tamale to Accra.

The initiative is under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Speaking at the launch, Dr Mensah said the Silicon Valley of Ghana will fasttrack our economy as well as attract investors around the world.

In line with the President’s “one district one factory” initiative, the speed bullet trains will facilitate trading.

It will also provide the requisite infrastructure required for the growth of enterprise.

The speed bullet train will be operating from Accra to Tamale, through Kumasi.

It will however, carry about 600-700 people per time.

This he said, will ease the congestion and traffic in the country as well as facilitate the movement of goods.

The project is said to cost about $ 2.8 billion.
