Zambia-based tech and innovation hub BongoHive has announced nine selected startups, to join the latest cohort in its Launch Accelerator programme.

The Launch Accelerator is a 6-month programme for startups looking to scale up.

Startups will be partnered with industry mentors, and have access to co-working space, legal consultants and accountants.

The nine selected startups are: edu-tech startup Payit, food beverages business Burger Queen, ‘woman focused’ talent management agency Phat Media, healthtech Dawa, hair retailer Merci, cosmetics startup Bantu Blends, distribution company Strutting Investment Limited, crowdfunding and real estate startup Daonari, and cleantech energy M-Power Ventures AG.

In a statement issued on Monday, BongoHive Co-founder and Executive Director, Lukonga Lindunda said the Launch programme has supported 79 startups in 7 cohorts over the last 33 months and alumni have gone on to raise over $800,000 in funding to date.

He also touched on recent accomplishments by the alumni of the programme saying, “Most recent accomplishments saw Launch Accelerator alumni such as Safe Motherhood Alliance winning the regional finals in the FemBioBiz Acceleration Programme – with R50k out of 32 Finalists.”

eMsika won the SUN Business Network (SBN) Local Pitch Event and will represent Zambia at the Nutrition Africa Investor Forum taking place in Nairobi, Kenya this October 2018.”
