Technology is constantly evolving and in line with that the smartphone industry is no sluggard.

A few months ago we were introduced to a revolutionary way of accessing and/or unlocking our phones; the in-screen fingerprint.

This convention was introduced by Chinese smartphone maker; Vivo and was released on their devices Vivo V11, X20 Plus UD, X21 and Nex (a very interesting device).

Huawei was next to adopt the technology and moved on to release it on their Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS (this phone was super stellar housing four cameras, three rear ones and one selfie camera).

The technology has the fingerprint sensor being placed beneath the screen. With the screen on top of it, a designated area of the sensor is highlighted on the screen (always on display or made visible when the power button is pressed) which unlocks the phone when pressed.

In attempts to increase screen to body ratios this technology is one of the best ways to attain this.

Oneplus, the company known as the Flagship Killer has confirmed that their next device; the Oneplus 6T will have this feature.

They are calling it the fingerprint-on-display feature (FOD).

This feature will come with other means of unlocking the phone such as their very popular Face Unlock.

The device is slated to be released on the 17th of October, 2018, some days after the Google Pixel 3 launch.

Per reports, the Oneplus 6T may be the only phone with the in-screen fingerprint technology that would be largely available in the US.

The likes of Vivo and Huawei are currently not distributed in the US due to some concerns of spying by these Chinese brands.

Oneplus revealed that they had the technology and would have introduced it as far back as the Oneplus 5T but they felt the technology was not mature enough to meet the standards of their phones thus it was hibernated till it was ready, which it seems to be now.

The Oneplus 6T will come with three rear cameras and at $550.
