Today’s edition of the NSMQ one-eighth was tension-filled with ties, close calls and almost wins for both competitors and the audience.

Tamale SHS, Achimota School and Apam SHS had the first contest of the day.

By the end of the second round, Achimota School was leading with 21 points, Tamale and Apam SHS just 1 and 4 points behind.

However, by the end of the fourth round, Tamale SHS was leading by 42 points, Achimota with 39 and Apam with 32.

In the last round, Tamale and Achimota tied with 45 points with each school determined to make it to the quarter finals.

Tamale SHS (Mohammed Yunus Maltiti, Lawal Sanusi) came out successful with 48 points, Achimota also finished with 45 points and Apam with 35.

West Africa SHS went up against Konongo-Odumase SHS and Kadjebi-Asato SHS in the second contest.

Though Konongo-Odumase SHS briefly lead the competition, West Africa SHS (Trade O. Abdul Hameed, Arkoh Sahene) took the reins, winning with 62 points to Konongo-Odumase’s 55 and Kadjebi-Asato SHS’ 23.

In the final contest of the day, Aggrey Memorial SHS competed with Sonrise SHS and Kumasi SHTS.

Though Kumasi SHTS (George Antwi-Agyei, Emmanuel Gyabaah Addae) briefly drew with Sonrise SHS, they secured a win with 40 points, Sonrise SHS with 34 points and Aggrey Memorial SHS with 25 points.
